20180928l Cigaroa vs SHSThis Friday, September 28th, the Sharyland Rattles hosted Laredo Cigarroa at Richard Thompson Stadium.

The game, which was scheduled for 7:30pm, was delayed due to rain and lightning strikes near by. As weather began to clear up spectators and school bands began to fill the stadium and the players took the field for opening ceremonies. After a 45 minutes delay the game was underway at 8:15pm.

The preceding bad weather did not get Rattler spirits down, the team hit the field strong and started moving the ball early in the game. The Rattlers scored a touchdown, with a good extra point, in the first quarter putting the Rattlers in the lead over the Toros 7 to 0.

On the first play of second quarter the Rattlers scored again with a long run for a TD putting them up 14 to 0. By the end of the first half the Rattlers had given up one touchdown but were not up 29 to 7.

Both teams had a non-productive third quarter; with neither team scoring the score remained the same, 29 to 7, going into the fourth.

During the fourth quarter the Rattlers turned up the heat and started scoring, putting up an additional 13 points, making the game 42 to 7 in Sharylands favor.

With 2:58 remaining on the clock, the Rattlers gave up a second touch down, but denied the Toros an extra point. As the clock ran out the Final Score was Rattlers 42 - Toros 13.
