Sharyland rolls past Del Rio, faces McHi in area

MISSION – Del Rio proved to be an easy test for Sharyland in last weekend’s bi-district playoff matchup as the Rattlers won the best-of-three series two games to none and advanced to the area round against McAllen on Friday.

Sharyland (29-1) and former district archrival McAllen (19-11) will play Game 1 on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at McAllen High School Baseball Field. Game 2 will be played on Saturday, May 11 at noon at Sharyland’s Rattler Field. If a Game 3 is necessary to decide the series, it will be played 30 minutes after the conclusion of Game 2 at the same site.

While the Rattlers routed the Rams 10-0 in five innings and 14-1 in six innings to win the bi-district playoffs two games to none, McAllen struggled early against Harlingen and had to use some Game 2 drama to stay alive before finishing off the Cardinals in Game 3.
