Edinburg tames Lady Rattlers

20130122-Sharyland-v-Edinburg-Girls-Basketball-069MISSION – When you’re on, you’re on, and when you’re not, you’re not. The Lady Rattlers tried everything, but it wasn’t their night Tuesday against District 30-5A playoff contender Edinburg.

The Lady Bobcats contained Sharyland to defeat the Lady Rattlers 54-41 at the Main Gymnasium. Edinburg improved to 20-10 overall, 10-2 in district, while Sharyland dropped to 19-12, 10-2 with the loss.

“Edinburg played better this game,” said Sharyland Head Coach Dale Whitaker. “They really came out on fire. It seemed like everything they put up was going into the basket. I kept challenging my girls, ‘let’s stop them.’  When we stopped the inside, they hit the outside. We stopped the outside, they’d go inside. They really played an excellent game.”

“He can go, he can literally do that the entire game,” said Sharyland Head Coach David Keith. “He struggled a little bit in the beginning. He was a little frustrated with himself and I think he calmed down a little bit and turned it into a pretty good game.”
